Expanding Self-Care

“Self care” is a popular term these days and I love the awareness it is gaining. It has proven to be crucial to mental health.




Another way of saying this is self-love. When you practice nourishing yourself and treating yourself with compassion, loving others becomes easier among other things such as holding less resentment. Here I want to bring a dynamic of self love to your attention, self-acceptance. You can learn more about this concept on the Expanded podcast with guest Dr Nicole Lepera, aka on instagram “The Holistic Psychologist.” Dr. Lepera talks about how we may not wake up feeling beautiful or confident on some days but it is important that we are able to accept and allow ourself to show up in that way. This added another dimension to the term self-care. She makes the point that if we can not accept ourself in all of our forms, we can not expect others to fully accept us. How did you show up today?
